Auto Italia Festival
On Saturday 9th June, I
took the Alfa down to Stamford Hall for the Auto Italia Festival. The event
was organised by Auto Italia Magazine and preceded National Alfa Day on Sunday
at the same venue. There was as you would expect an interesting display of Ferraris,
Mazeratis, Alfas, and even the odd Fiat.
Also invited to the event
were owners of cars with specialist coachwork by Italian stylists. Falling into
this category was this very nice Gordon Keeble, with Bertone styling, and special
bodied examples of Sunbeam Rapier and TVR.

There was an interesting
mix of cars with at one extreme, a beautiful 1930ish 1750 Alfa grand Sport,
and an equally interesting, in its own way, Fiat Topolino.

One of the stars was this
immaculate sports racing Cisitalia, which after the event was on its way to
LeMans to take part in the retrospective race.

I managed to pick up a runner
up prize in the concours, which was inexplicably won by a fairly ordinary Fiat
X19. This was not a popular decision by the judges, and the murmurings of disapproval
from the assembled crowd could be heard.
