NSU Girl

Before political correctness took the fun out of our everyday lives, car manufacturers unashamedly used half naked girls to promote their wares. This NSU RO80 ad. from the late sixties was typical and was probably intended to boost the car's flagging sales. The RO80 was the most futuristic designs around at the time, but unreliability of it's Wankel rotary engine soon gave it a bad reputation. I well remember a letter in the motoring press from the owner of a two year old car who had been told by his NSU dealer that he needed a new engine, at a cost of £700. The trade-in value of the car, in good condition, was precisely the same amount - £700, so in it's present state it was worth precisely nothing. How's that for depreciation?

I bet the guy in the hat's got a smile on his face, no wonder he took his sunglasses off.
