Cholmondeley Classic Car & Motorcycle Show

This new event took place on Sunday the 12th May and was blessed for most of the day
with excellent weather. Cholmondeley (pronounced Chumley) isn’t a real Castle being
built as a stately home in the nineteenth century, but provided an excellent backdrop to
this well attended event. There was an eclectic mix of classics from all ages spanning
from the twenties to the seventies.

I particularly liked some of the early post war stuff pictured here in this line up of Morris 8 Series E,
Austin 8, MG YT, and Rover 12, all tourers from the late forties.

My favourites from the fifties were this Humber Hawk, and Mk1 Zephyr convertible –
note the unmistakable profile of the ’59 Cadilac Coupe behind the Humber.

The sixties were well represented with some truly immaculate cars. This Escort was like
new, and the Gazelle was in totally original condition having been in one family
ownership from new with very low mileage and original paint.

MG’s were there in abundance, and mostly very shiny. This 1100 engine bay was over
restored and if I had been judging the concours it would have been marked down for its
excessive chrome and, horror of horrors, polished radiator header tank.

An excellent and enjoyable day, and one to look forward to next year.
